Wedding Traditions: Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue

The tradition of having something old, something new, something borowed, and something blue can be dated back to 1898 in an old English Rhyme.  The original rhyme also included the line “sixpence in her shoe”.  Many of todays brides still follow this tradition and have one of each thing in their wedding.  Something old represents continunity, new represents optimism for the future, something borrowed symbolizes borrowed happiness, and something blue represnets purity, love, and fidelity.  What wonderful symbols to start off your new life together.  No wonder brides still follow this tradition over 100 years later.
